Kammersängerin Rachel Yakar

We are proud and happy that the internationally acclaimed opera star Rachel Yakar has taken over the patronage for Kammeroper Leipzig.

Rachel Yakar first and foremost came to be known as the muse of the famous conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt with whom she recorded countless CDs.

Her outstanding career led her to the greatest opera houses of the world, such as Chicago, San Francisco, London (Covent Garden), Toronto, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Switzerland. Furthermore, she has been a very welcome guest star at great international festivals, as for example Glyndebourne Festival, Festival de Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgh Festival and many more.

She gave several guest performances at the Bayreuther Festpielen (Bayreuth Festival) under the direction of conductor Pierre Boulez.

Rachel Yakar is the only Frenchwoman who was awarded with the honorary title "Kammersängerin".
